[tahoe-dev] how to compress a darcs repository

Folks:

It's a fun and interesting fact about compression that sometimes
(depending on the patterns in the data), the compression of a big
pile of files can be much better than compression of a big pile of
those same files compressed.

I just did a quick experiment on the tahoe darcs repository and
learned that while the .tar.gz of the normal repository (which
contains compressed patches) is about 14 megs, and the .tar.rz of the
normal repository is about 10 megs, the .tar.rz of the uncompressed
repository (i.e. a normal repository except that the patches are
uncompressed -- this is an option that darcs supports) is a mere 7.2
megs!
