Finder cannot access SFTP, and FTP was read-only the last time I tried.  
However, there is a product for Mac OS X called ExpanDrive that uses 
MacFuse, a Fuse-plugin, and GUI-components to integrate SFTP with the 
Mac OS X desktop:

They have a Windows version, too.
