I'm using Tahoe-LAFS as a backup solution on my home network of
mixed-architecture machines (WinXP-32, WinVista-32, Win7-64, OpenBSD-64).
Tahoe-LAFS is one of very few backup applications that is interoperable
across Windows and OpenBSD. (I was a former user of the allmydata.com
commercial grid before it shut down.)

I have also recently used the Tahoe-LAFS pubgrid to transfer (encrypted
.zip) files to a mortgage broker in preparation for buying a house. The
broker's e-mail system disallowed large incoming file attachments, but I
needed to send him scanned documents. I put the files on the pubgrid, sent
him the read-only URL, and he had no problem getting the files. (I have no
idea what his other clients do.) Please don't remove the public web
gateway. :)
