Dear Greg:

I didn't mean that leases can be renewed without walking the fs trees.
You are right that doesn't make sense. I mean on the storage server
side, leases can be queried and updated without walking over all the
share data, which is stored (in attached disk or in cloud storage) as
a set of files. The old (current) implementation kept the lease data
stored in those files with the share data, so the storage server has
to laboriously crawl through all of the stored share data in order to
query or process leases.

Your other points about user experience requirements for how much
space is used or freed or would be freed are great points. Please add
them to #1832.
