gpg versus gpg2?

Ubuntu is still shipping gpg:

$ lsb_release -a
Distributor ID:    Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
...

$ command -v gpg
/usr/bin/gpg
$ command -v gpg2
